How It Works – Your Journey With Olivia Laura Jewellery

1. Choose Your Jewellery

Start by heading to the Products section of the website to explore the full jewellery range. From rings and necklaces to earrings and charms, each piece is handmade and can be customised with your chosen inclusions - such as breastmilk, hair, umbilical cord, cremation ashes and more.

When you find the jewellery you love, simply add it to your basket. An online order form will pop up, allowing you to add any specific details or preferences for your design.

2. Place Your Order

Once you’ve completed the online form, simply head to checkout to place your order. If you're not completely sure on your final design - don’t worry. You’ll have another opportunity to confirm or tweak your choices using the paper form inside the collection kit. This is a great place to note any changes, such as colour preferences or additions you'd like included in your piece.

You can also use this form to sketch out your design ideas if that helps you visualise things more clearly - many customers find it really helpful to see it all on paper first.

4. Send Us Your Inclusions

On receipt of your order, I will send out one of my DNA Collection kits. Simply follow the included instructions to send your breastmilk (or other inclusions) back to us. Any age of milk is suitable - fresh or frozen - just make sure it’s fully defrosted and mould-free before posting.

✉️ Be sure to label everything clearly with your name and order number.

You will find your order number in your order confirmation email.

5. Inclusions Received – What Happens Next

Once your inclusions arrive, I’ll send you a quick email to let you know they’ve arrived safely. Sometimes my emails can sneak into spam folders, so if you're expecting to hear from me, it's worth checking there just in case.

To help make sure my messages reach you, feel free to add my email address to your contacts: catriona@olivialaurajewellery.co.uk.

Next I will begin preserving your breastmilk, to preserve your breastmilk, I use a trusted preservation powder - it's the same method I used for my own milk, so I know it works and keeps its natural colour beautifully.

The milk is gently heated and combined with the powder to safely preserve it. It then forms a paste, which is spread thinly onto greaseproof paper (labelled and separated for each order) and left to dry in your collection kit box. This ensures your preserved breastmilk - and any other inclusions - are kept securely on their own at all times.

Drying takes just under a week, after which your preserved milk is ready to be made into your keepsake. Turnaround times vary depending on the piece. You can find the estimated timeframe for your chosen jewellery in the product description.

Once dried, your preserved breastmilk will look like this - ready to be transformed into your keepsake.

5. Crafting Your Keepsake

Once your breastmilk has fully dried, it’s gently ground into a fine powder and mixed with high-grade jeweller’s resin. Any shimmers you selected on the online order form will also be incorporated at this stage. Your jewellery is then cured and sealed with a protective top coat to help keep your preserved breastmilk and inclusions safe for years to come.

Here’s what your preserved breastmilk will look like before it’s mixed with resin.
